“Hot Air” borrows properties found in relief sculpture. The diptych depicts facing bronze sumo wrestlers pushing into matching hot air balloons. As each balloon is depressed and displaced, the depths of surrounding elements somewhat synchronously transition from low to incised relief, and back again.
